About Nous

Nous is a new service that helps households get smart and stay vigilant against the rising cost of living.

Initially, we’re launching a personalised cost-of-living forecast that’s free for everyone. It shows at-a-glance what you currently pay for all the key suppliers to your household, such as energy, broadband and insurance. We use this information, plus our expert research into the market, to create a real-time forecast of how your household finances will be affected over the next 12 months.

Alongside this free service, we’re hard at work on some powerful features that will support you to make good, timely decisions about which providers your household uses, and when to switch or renegotiate. This managed service will automate many routine decisions, saving you time, money and stress.

Our managed service will be made available for a small membership fee and we’re confident we’ll be able to save most households a small fortune. If we aren’t able to save you (a lot) more than our service costs, then we intend to waive the membership fee altogether.

Even after our managed service is available, you can continue using the free forecast, along with all of our published research into suppliers and markets.

Practical steps

As we all brace for the cost-of-living crisis, the most important thing is to understand how rising prices are going to affect your household specifically. We recommend five simple steps to stay on top of things.

  1. Get smart about your situation. Free tools like the dashboard at Nous.co can help by giving you a complete picture of how much you spent on household services how much these costs will increase.
  2. Make a household plan. Work out all the things that you spend money on, decide which ones are most important, and which ones you could cut.
  3. Save money on things you need. Does your broadband need to be that fast? Do you need all those Sky channels? Do you need all of that data on your mobile phone? Have you got the best price for all of these essentials, particularly if you’re out of your initial contract period?
